Man who was found dead in car fire ID'd
The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the identity of a man who died in a Dec. 8 car fire near Lion Lake in the Hungry Horse area as Conrad Peak, 77.
Peak was a transient in the area. He reportedly had been living in his car in the Hungry Horse area for a couple of weeks preceding his death. He was last known to live in Texas.
The 911 dispatch center received a report at 5:20 p.m. Dec. 8 of a vehicle fully engulfed in the woods near the lake. When the vehicle was extinguished it had extensive fire damage. The victim’s body was recovered and sent to the Montana State Crime laboratory for an autopsy.
Peak’s vehicle was a 2006 Ford Escape 4 door, blue in color. At this time it is unknown how the vehicle fire started, the Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.
