Body found in burned car at Lion Lake
A body was found inside a burned vehicle near Lion Lake Saturday evening.
According to a release by the Flathead County Sheriff’s Department, firefighters responded to a call of a vehicle fully engulfed in the woods near Lion Lake about 5:20 p.m. near Hungry Horse.
When the vehicle was extinguished it had extensive fire damage. The remains of one individual were found in the car. The victim’s body was recovered and will be sent to the Montana State Crime lab for autopsy.
The subject has not yet been positively identified. The Flathead County Fire Investigation Team responded to the scene, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The release did not say whether the victim was a man or a woman. Lion Lake is a popular spot for fishermen and recreation along the West Side Hungry Horse Reservoir Road.
