End of life class
Columbia Falls United Methodist Church Rev. Dawn Skerritt will lead a 13-week intensive course that allows for in-depth discussion and reading, ethical conversations and theological reflection around end of life care. The course will look at concerns about loved ones and the end of life wishes of terminally ill, and other topics. It begins Monday, Sept. 10 from 10 a.m. to noon and will run through December at Columbia Falls United Methodist Church. A donation of $35 covers the purchase of a book, and course materials. Free meal
The free canyon community dinner at the Hungry Horse school is Thursday, Aug. 30 and the menu for this month is meatloaf, red potatoes, corn on the cob, green salad, roll and mandarin orange pig cake. You don’t want to miss that. As always, we serve between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. Come early and enjoy a cup of coffee and mingle. Maya pedal
An event to raise funds for Maya Pedal, a non-profit that helps Guatemala families with machines made from used bicycles, is at 6 p.m. Sept. 7 at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish. There will be music by Cocinando, traditional Maya cuisine, the Maya Pedal machines at work and special guest speaker Veronica Buch, president of Maya Pedal, will attend.
Chamber lunch
The first Columbia Falls Chamber lunch of the fall is Sept. 11 at 11:45 a.m. at the North Valley Community Center on Nucleus Avenue. Guest speaker is Doug Mitchell of the Glacier National Park Conservancy.
Community market
The Columbia Falls Community Market at continues at 5 p.m. Aug. 30 at the Coop. This week’s band is Five Letter Word. Tamarack Brewing Company provides the beer, Glacier Distilling Co. the liquor and the sponsor is Park Side Credit Union.
Open House
Hawk Creek Studios up Red Meadow Road in the North Fork will have an open house Sept. 8-9. Come up and visit with artist Peter Moore.
