Arbor Day

Columbia Falls Arbor Day celebration is noon May 4 at Horine Park off Talbott Road. Ruder fifth-graders will also attend and there will be a tree planting and other activities.

Free meals

The Free Canyon Community dinner is held in the Hungry Horse School on the last Thursday of the month unless otherwise noted. This month it is Thursday the 26th and the menu is egg bake with sausage, cinnamon rolls and fresh fruit. Come early and mingle and enjoy a cup of coffee. Dinner will be served between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. Any questions please feel free to call Flo 406-250-3406 or Luann 261-1083.

Pie and plant sale

The Columbia Falls Our Savior’s Lutheran Church pie and plant sale is Saturday, May 12, from 8 a.m. - noon. There will be a variety of plants for sale; donated from our local gardens, yards, and homes. Then join us for breakfast. Fresh-baked hot breakfast dishes will available for sale, along with freshly brewed coffee and tea. Pie and a variety of baked goods will also be served. Pie by the slice and whole pies will be available for purchase. This event is sponsored by Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and will be open to all in the community. Questions? Call the church at 892-3784. Proceeds will go to the youth of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church who are heading to the ELCA National Youth Gathering trip to Houston, Texas this summer.

Band concert

The Flathead Valley Community Band is teaming up with the Columbia Falls Community Choir to present a May Music Spectacular concert on Wednesday May 2 in the Flathead High School Auditorium. The program begins at 7:30 p.m. with each group presenting individual pieces before combining for a grand finale. The choir is directed by Steve Holte and the band is under the direction of Allen Slater. No admission fee, but donations are accepted.

Peacock prayers

Friends and family of Kimberly Peacock are invited to join her congregation in a service of healing and hope at the United Methodist Church in Columbia Falls at 7 p.m. May 2. Peacock is currently in Denver for a bone marrow transplant. The church is calling on people for support for prayers, messages of hope and healing. There will be pizza, popcorn and pickles following the service.

Congressional forum

Democrats running in the Montana Congressional primary will have a forum at the Columbia Falls high school Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in the Little Theater. The public is invited to attend.
