Big Band Jazz

A Big Band Jazz Concert featuring the Columbia Falls High School Columbians Jazz band, the Spokane High School premier Jazz Band and the Don Lawrence Orchestra is 7 p.m. Monday, April 23 at the High School Little Theater. Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for students. It will feature tunes from Broadway and Hollywood including “Blue Skies,” “Summertime” and “Love for Sale” to name a few. Produced by Don Lawrence. Endowment auction

The Columbia Falls Academic Endowment fundraiser is Thursday, April 19 at the Cedar Creek Lodge. All proceeds from this annual fundraiser support the Columbia Falls Alumni/Community Academic Endowment. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with the festivities beginning at 6 p.m. The evening will feature student entertainment, hors d’oeuvres, cash wine and beer bar, and silent and live auctions. Tickets are $10 and are available from all endowment trustees and at the Columbia Falls High School office. They can also be purchased at the door.

River films

The Wild River Films Tour is coming to Columbia Falls April 19 at the Angel Theater at the old LaSalle Grange. Doors open at 6 p.m. and films start at 7 p.m. featuring the world premier screening of “Last Call,” U.S. premier screening of “Confluir,” as well as “The Time Travelers,” “Chicken Raper (AKA Stateline Rapid),” “Vallecito,” and “Return from Desolation.” The event is sponsored by American Rivers and the Greater Yellowstone Coalition in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act. Arbor Day

Columbia Falls Arbor Day celebration is noon May 4 at Horine Park off Talbott Road. Ruder fifth-graders will also attend and there will be a tree planting and other activities.
