The Columbia Falls golf squad will send three boys to the state A tournament this week in Sidney.

It’s 543 miles to Sydney, about a nine hour drive.

Tyler Langton and LJ Panasuk both shot 88 at the Western A divisional in Hamilton, which placed them in 15th and earned them all-conference. Logan Lybbert also qualified for state with a 90. Panasuk missed most of the regular season with an injury, so it was particularly nice to see him qualify for state, said coach Gene Marcille.

“The team competed well at divisonals, but we were a few shots short of qualifying as a team for state,” Marcille noted.

Trey Perkins had a 101 Reush Powell shot a 141 and Elizabeth Opalka shot a 153.

The boys took seventh overall.

At the Libby Invitational last Tuesday, the Cats were third out of seven teams.

Logan Lybbert took second with an 84, LJ Panasuk 91 (7th), Tyler Langton 94, Reush Powell 101 and Bobby Dewbre 119.
