The Foreigner on tap at FVCC this month

| October 11, 2017 8:02 AM

FVCC’s Theatre Arts Department will open its 2017-18 season with a contemporary comedy appropriate for people of all ages. “The Foreigner” by Larry Shue has won two Obie awards and two Outer Critics Circle awards as Best New American Play and Best Off-Broadway Production. Nightly performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. Oct. 19-21 and Oct. 26-28 in the FVCC theatre in the Arts and Technology building.

“The Foreigner” is set in a fishing lodge in rural Georgia where a couple of travelers from England find themselves face-to-face with both the best and the worst America has to offer. Based on what the New York Post describes as a “devilishly clever idea,” the play demonstrates what can happen when a group of devious characters must deal with a stranger who knows no English, or so the group thinks.

Tickets are available at the FVCC Bookstore, online at www.fvcc.edu or at the box office prior to each evening’s performance. Prices are $10 general admission, $5 for seniors and free for all students.
