Vernon Edwin Lyngstad

Vernon Edwin Lyngstad passed away peacefully on Nov. 1, 2017 at Roseville Care Center, Roseville, California after a brief illness at his son Brett’s home.

All four sons and many grandchildren were able to visit him in his last days.

He was born Feb. 24th, 1936 at the family home in Willow City, North Dakota, to Ole and Ida (Rockvoy) Lyngstad.

He was an OUTSTANDING high school athlete. His high school basketball team became the 1953 North Dakota State “Class C” basketball champions earning him a basketball scholarship to North Dakota School of Forestry, Bottineau, North Dakota. He also earned an invitation to a baseball farm league.

Later he moved to Columbia Falls to live with older brother Arthur. While in Montana, he joined the Army in 1956 and served out that commitment in the National Guard. Upon returning from the Army, Vern worked in the lumber industry including the “green chain” at Plum Creek Lumber. In November 1958, he married Sally Seymer in Columbia Falls.

The rest of his career was in the telecom industry. He traveled working for Automatic Electric. Vern and the family then settled in St. Maries, Idaho employed by General Telephone, transferring to Everett, Washington in 1970. In 1973 they moved to Apple Valley, Minnesota employed by ADC in Bloomington, Minnesota. In 1979 they moved to Cupertino, California.
