Booster Club Dinner

The Columbia Falls Booster Club will have a free spaghetti dinner for all winter activity participants and their families. Nov. 21st at 6:30 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.

Wreaths Across

America

The annual Wreaths Across America event at the Montana Veterans Home is Dec. 16 at 10 a.m. Glacier Chapter - Sons of the American Revolution and the Montana Veteran’s Home host this annual celebration. Wreath donations are still needed. Each donated wreath costs $15. Donated wreaths are placed on graves of veterans as part of the Wreaths Across America celebration

Those wishing to donate a wreath or wreaths should mail their check payable to Wreaths Across America to Steve Armstrong, 439 Grand Drive, #170, Bigfork, MT 59911. The deadline for wreath donations is Saturday, Nov. 18. Over 1 million wreaths will be placed on veterans’ graves at a thousand cemeteries this year.

Hutcheson talk

Join Flathead Valley Trout Unlimited for its Tuesday, Nov. 21 chapter meeting where Hilary Hutcheson, fishing guide, owner of the Lary’s Fly Shop in Columbia Falls and vocal advocate for public lands and wild fish, will present a multi-media presentation titled “Kick Plastic- A Changing Tide for Guides”. Hilary will explain why hundreds of fly fishing guides across the country are going plastic-free, and how you can join them. The meeting is at FWP headquarters in Kalispell on Meridian Road and starts at 7 p.m.

Energy talk

A forum featuring local clean energy businesses and a new UM research white paper on the social and economic impacts of Montana’s transition to a renewable energy future will be held Thursday, Nov. 16, 7 p.m. at the Cedar Creek Lodge in Columbia Falls. A panel will discuss Montana’s clean energy future. Confirmed panelists include: David Bopp, Flathead Electric Cooperative, Paul Siblerud, ViZn, Paul McKenzie, F.H. Stoltze Land and Lumber, Diane Yarus, Airworks, Jeff Arcel, Aeon Renewable Energy, Barbara Calm, Calm Veterinary Clinic (reflections on solar system installed at Kila business in 2008), Andrew Valainis, Montana Renewable Energy Association.

Business After Hours

The Columbia Falls Chamber Business After Hours this month is at Auctech on Highway 40. The custom metal shop will have a holiday pig roast from 5 to 7 p.m., Nov. 28 plus showcase its business.

Open house

On Nov. 17, from 3 p.m. to 6 pm, Kalispell’s newest manufacturer, U.S. Optics, will be rolling out the welcome mat to the community with an Open House featuring hot beverages and a guided tour of their facility. The tour will showcase the production process of the custom rifle scopes they have been manufacturing and assembling to exacting specifications for over 26 years. Identify theft talk

A free talk about identity theft and how to combat it is scheduled for 10 a.m. Nov. 18 at Freedom Bank in the downstairs conference room. The talk is free and open to the public.

Community benefit

One dollar of every glass of beer sold between 5-8 p.m. Nov. 21 at Backslope Brewing is donated to Flathead Industries, a local non-profit organization that creates opportunities for people with disabilities. Funds will support the Bridge the Gap Scholarship Program, which provides funding to those on a 3-5 year waiting list to receive services.
