An ill friend, a car in the ditch, the constitution and hunting season
My friend John Frederick is not doing well. In fact, he is very ill, but has opposed having it broadcast. He is currently at Brendan House and has close friends keeping him almost constant company. I’m sure he is happy to have visitors but he tires very quickly. Please, wish him well and keep visits short.
A car has been sitting in the ditch on Home Ranch Bottoms for several days. I presume they hit the ditch due to slippery roads and since it is a pretty deep ditch maybe cannot afford a tow truck. Hope they are able to retrieve it soon before it is vandalized. I’m sure there are locals who would help if they just knew where and when.
Overall the road has bare spots, ice covered spots, snow covered miles, rough spots and a few smooth spots. Typical winter North Fork Road. Easy to drive if you pay attention, easy to wreck if you don’t.
Hunting season continues and seems to be pretty normal. As usual, Mark Heaphy has harvested a nice bull elk. As usual, he was not road hunting, but did say this elk was within a mile of a road. I presume his wife, Margaret, as usual helped bone it out and pack meat to the truck. At least two of my neighbors have taken deer and I have seen some bloody/drag marks coming from the woods to the road. Thus, my saying we are having a normal hunting season may not be quite true, but my information is better than whatever we hear from Fish, Wildlife and Parks. In recent years FWP operated a check station at Canyon Creek, on weekends. Not complete info to be sure, but enough to establish an annual trend. This year, no check station. Money woes, no trained people? I guess it could be about anything, even an excuse to raise fees again.
Until then, you can like or dislike my information in the sure and certain knowledge it won’t cost more next year and may be more reliable than what state and federal agencies feed us.
The community group prompting discussion of the U.S. Constitution continue to meet periodically at Sondreson Hall. This week’s topic will be the U.S. Judiciary led by Richard Hildner and Steve Berg.
These discussions have been well thought out, well led and better attended than I thought they would be, I hope everyone continues to benefit. Maybe when they finish with the U.S. Constitution they will find another great topic to discuss. Might even prevent folks from getting cabin fever and becoming shack nasty this winter.
What do you think?
