Track does well at Western divisionals

The Columbia Falls track teams will head into state competition on a high note after solid showings at the divisional meet in Corvallis last week.

The boys tied Dillon for second place, while the girls took fourth.

The boys had championships from Sage Wanner in the 3,200 (9:52.17) and the 1,600 (4:29.75). Ben Windauer won the pole vault (14-0) and teammate Austin Green was second (13-7).

Logan Kolodjechuk was third in the shot put (49-6.5) and Braxton Reiten was second in the 100 (11.37). Dakota Bridwell took second in the javelin (183-8) and Kolodejchuk was third (181-01).

The girls were led by freshman Kimberly Peacock, who won the 3,200 meters in 11:38.93. She also took third in the 1,600 with 5:22.80. Freshman Angellica Street took second in the javelin, with a throw of 128-9. Kaitlyn Cassazza was second in the 100 and 300 hurdles with times of 16.55 and 49.51 respectively.

Corvallis won both titles. State competition begins in Laurel Friday and Saturday. Corvallis won the girls title last year, while Dillon won the boys.
