After knife incident, Columbia Falls man nabbed in manhunt
Police conducted a manhunt for a man who allegedly used a knife on a family member Monday night.
At approximately 10 p.m. the Columbia Falls Police Department and Flathead County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance on Fourth Avenue West involving a knife.
When the officers arrived, the suspect, Wayne Armstrong fled and remained at large for about three hours, Columbia Falls Police Chief Clint Peters said.
Peters said that Armstrong used a knife to threaten the lives of other family members. One person was injured.
Two Bear Air searched for the man from the air and assisted police on the ground.
Five hours later, after an extensive air and ground search, Peters said Armstrong was delivered to the police station by his father at 3:30 a.m.
“All that searching, and then he was brought to our back door,” Peters said.
The police department thanked the Sheriff’s Deputies and Two Bear Air for their assistance in the arrest.
