Wick elected vice president of National Association of Elementary School Principals

The principal of Columbia Falls Junior High School has been elected Vice President of the National Association of Elementary School Principals.

“It’s incredibly humbling and a big honor,” Wick said recently. “There’s so many exceptional principals in the nation, and to be able to represent them is just a huge honor.”

There are over 65,000 elementary school principals across the country, he noted.

In a year, Wick will assume the role of president-elect, and will take a leave of absence two years from now to serve in full presidential capacity.

He has been a member of NAESP since 1994, and has served on its board since 2012. He won the Montana Distinguished Principal Award in 2011, adding to various other awards and recognition.

Wick graduated from Great Falls High School, and received a bachelor’s degree in English education with a business administration minor from Concordia College. He earned an master’s degree in education from the University of Montana in 1993, and underwent his doctoral coursework in educational leadership and supervision in 1994.

He became assistant principal at Central School in Whitefish in 1994, and has worked for Columbia Falls School District 6 since 1997.
