Sand roads, please

| March 8, 2017 12:08 PM

I have requested for change in maintenance to Montana roads. Since winter has started our local roads around town have gone down hill. Not only have our roads gone down hill but our roads are not being plowed when it snows causing them to get snowpack and become very icy for local commuters.

They are getting infested with huge potholes, that can damage vehicles and be very costly. When weather gets dicey and roads get icy, the chemicals that are sprayed on the roads that prevents the build up of more ice causes corrosion to vehicles and equipment, which can also be very costly. Recently one of my friends hit a pothole that broke his cv axle on his truck which costs him a few hundred dollars to fix. The potholes drastically increase in short amounts of time and catch your tires off guard.

Although some people might be fine with the degrading roads and the harsh chemicals that are de-icing the roads, I think that they should go back to the old fashioned way of doing things and sand the roads for better traction and less expense. Thanks for taking time to read my request.
