Ronald Eugene Zabel

Ronald Eugene Zabel, 70, passed away at his home Feb. 22 after a hard fought battle with plasma cell leukemia. Ron was born Sept. 6, 1946 in Beach, North Dakota. He lived in Wibaux and Hindsdale before moving to Columbia Falls during childhood.

He had an amazing memory, quick wit and a temper to match. He was a blessing to many using his skills as a master craftsman and jack of all trades. Truly a giving soul, he lived a life of service. When he wasn’t fixing something, he was visiting with friends and family. He deeply loved his family and cared for his friends. Ron retired as an ironworker from the Columbia Falls Aluminum Co.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Eileen; stepparents Al and Louella; and sister Sharon Prichard. He is survived by his wife Donna Zabel; his children Ray and Kerry Zabel, Dawn and Robert Piekut, and Jenna Rae and Walter Welsh; his sisters Sandra Coutts, Ginette Danielson; and six step-siblings, three grandchildren, a great-grand child, and many other loved family members and friends. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Wings Regional Cancer Support — WINGS • P.O. Box 7852 • Kalispell, MT 59904.

A memorial service for Ron will be held on March 4, 2017 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Columbia Falls at 11 a.m.

Columbia Mortuary is caring for the Zabel family.
