The Glacier Twins A team swept the competition at the Cloninger Classic in Helena, nabbing wins every day.

The Twins beat the Vauxhall Spurs 13-2 on Saturday morning. They scored five runs in the first inning and eight runs in the second while holding Vauxhall scoreless until the Spurs’ two-run fifth inning closed out the contest.

In Saturday’s nightcap, Glacier’s Skyler Warner and Tyler Murphy held Anaconda to one hit and one run in a 15-1 thrashing. The Twins scored 10 runs in the second inning and added five runs in the fourth.

The Twins’ toughest game was the Friday opener, when they edged the Helena Reps 7-3.

On Sunday, the Twins banged out 14 hits to defeat the Bozeman Bucks, 8-0. Nathan Hader scored twice, Tyler Murphy was 2 for 3, and Glacier ultimately outhit Bozeman 14-2.

“What I was really pleased with was our offense,” Twins coach Scott Murray said of the team’s strong weekend at the tournament.

Glacier was 4-0 in tournament play and is now 8-8 overall. The Twins have a league doubleheader on Wednesday at Eureka against the Kootenai Valley Rangers. The first game starts at 4 p.m.
