Roy C. Countryman Jr.

Roy C. Countryman Jr., 87, passed away on May 31, 2017 at North Valley Hospital.

He was born on Sept. 14, 1929, in Kalispell to Roy and Mae Countryman.

He moved to Halfmoon at the age of 12 where his father was the storekeeper for Stoltze Lumber.

He attended Canyon View grade school and Columbia Falls High School and graduated in 1948.

He married Elaine Smith on Oct. 17, 1955. They lived in Whitefish for six years and moved to Columbia Falls in 1961. He retired from the aluminum plant in 1993 after 28 years.

He enjoyed his yard and garden on the flat for 51 years. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and golf. His pride and joy were his children.

He is survived by his wife Elaine of 61 years, son Tom (Cindy) Countryman, daughter Becky Countryman-Doherty (John), sister Barbara Nichol, and brother-in-law Gene Darling.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Doris Darling.

A private service and cremation were held.

A celebration of life will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 10 at the Countryman home, located at 1009 Third Avenue East.

In lieu of flowers, a donation is suggested to Columbia Falls Food Bank, Columbia Falls Wildcat Athletic Endowment Association, or Shriners.
