The Hungry Horse man whose sparkler bombs allegedly injured a teenage girl on Fourth of July turned himself to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Department Tuesday night.

Sheriff Chuck Curry did not release the man’s name and said charges against the man are still pending.

During the day on July 4, the man put a homemade sparkler bomb in a piece of pipe - a cut-off sign post - in downtown Hungry Horse. When it didn’t ignite, he put another bomb in. The detonation of the two sparkler bombs shredded the pipe and shrapnel injured a young woman, who was treated at North Valley Hospital.

Curry said the man was not intoxicated during the incident and doesn’t have a record of similar incidents.

The Sheriff’s Department posted a picture of the man on its Facebook page asking for leads to his whereabouts.
