District baseball teams to compete this weekend

The 2017 American Legion Baseball Western District Class A Tournament is this week in Whitefish, bringing together eight teams from across Western Montana and British Columbia. All games will be played at Memorial Park, home of the Glacier Twins American Legion Baseball Club.

In the West District the Twins will have the top seed for the North Division.

In the South Division, the Bitterroot Red Sox out of Hamilton, who gave the Twins their only two conference play losses, should be the team to beat.

The other teams are the Cranbrook Bandits, the Kalispell Lakers, the Libby Loggers, the Mission Valley Mariners out of Polson, the Missoula Mavericks, and the Bitterroot Bucs out of Florence.

The tournament format will be an eight-team double-elimination with play starting at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 20. Games the first three days will be at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 4 p.m., and 7 p.m.

Day pass admission is $8 for adults and $5 for students or seniors age 55 and over. Children 12 and under are free. All-Tourney passes, programs, and souvenir shirts will also be available for purchase.
