Several AA and even AAA American Legion teams were present for the Sapa/Johnsrud Memorial Tournament, hosted by the Glacier Twins A squad last week.

In the first game of the tournament, Skylar Warner pitched five solid innings and Glacier took full advantage of Gonzaga Prep mistakes to thrash the Bullpups 11-3.

Greyson Bistodeau went 3-4 with two RBIs.

In the Friday night game against the Lethbridge Spitz Elks AA, the Twins made five errors and took a 6-2 loss. Lethbridge did most of the damage in the top of the third, taking advantage of four hits and a walk to nab three runs.

Bouncing back from the Friday defeat, the Twins scored an 11-8 victory over the Butte Miners AA Saturday afternoon and won 8-4 over the Spokane Expos that evening.

Against the Miners, Glacier raced to an early lead with six combined runs in the first two innings. The Miners got four runs early in the fourth inning and took an 8-6 lead, but the Twins rallied with three runs in the bottom half of the fourth and two runs in the fifth.

Versus Spokane, Glacier scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to put the game out of reach. Spokane scored once in the fifth and twice in the sixth to trail 4-3.

After solid performances early in the tourney, though, the Twins lost to the Spokane Cannons 15-8 in the semifinals.

Glacier held a 7-5 lead after three innings and tallied another run in the bottom of the seventh, but the Cannons scored five times in the sixth and added three more runs in the seventh to pull away for the win.

This week, the Twins go up against Missoula on Wednesday, Libby on Friday, and Kalispell on Saturday and Sunday.
