The Columbia Falls boys basketball team had another tough week. On Thursday, they lost to AA Glacier 65-32 at home, then Friday they lost to AA Sentinel 64-32 on the road. Back home on Saturday, the Cats lost a conference game to Frenchtown in the closing minutes, 40-36.

The Wildcats are now 2-10 on the season and 1-3 in conference play.

The Cats played pretty well against the Broncs, leading most of the game, but a couple of untimely turnovers and missed shots in the last couple of minutes was the difference as Frenchtown took advantage of Wildcat mistakes. Matt Morrison led the squad with 13, followed by Dakota Bridwell, who had 11.

Coach Chris Finberg said the Cats just had a tough time scoring in the second half, which may have been due to playing three games in three days. The Cats have virtually no bench — Quintin Schriver comes off the bench if they need a sub.

Against Glacier and Sentinel, the Cats fell behind early and never recovered. Glacier shot out to a 19-5 lead in the first quarter and Sentinel was up 27-9 at the break.

Logan Stephens had 10 against Sentinel and 11 against Glacier to lead the Cats.

The boys will look to get a win Saturday a they host Stevensville.

“They’re an athletic team,” Finberg noted. The Yellowjackets beat Whitefish by 20 earlier this year. Game time is 4 p.m.
