Girls extend winning streak to 8, face Bulldogs this week

The Columbia Falls girls basketball team extended their winning streak to eight games last week as they dropped Libby 64-35 and Polson 68-19 on the road.

Sydney Hovde had her best scoring game of the season, with 12 against the Lady Loggers. Hannah Gedlaman and Cydney Finberg had 10 apiece.

Against Polson, Peyton Kehr was hot, dropping 20, while Kiara Burlage had 15.

Coach Cary Finberg was pleased with the defensive effort from the girls as well, noting they held Libby 12 for 34 shooting and Polson was just 7 for 39. They also forced 27 turnovers against Libby and 22 against Polson. The girls also shared the ball well. Between Gedlaman, Burlage and Cydney, they had 18 assists against the Lady Loggers. Dani Douglas had four steals and Cydney had three.

The girls are on the road again this week, but close to home as they face Whitefish at 6 p.m. Thursday.
