Heavy snow possible Sunday into Monday
A snowstorm carrying tropical moisture from the Pacific is expected to hit the region late Sunday into Monday. There is the potential that it could be a wintry mix to start, but areas like Hungry Horse north to Glacier National Park should see all snow, said Bob Nester, a senior forecaster with the National Weather Service.
“Six to 10 inches isn’t out of the question,” Nester said Friday evening.
Glacier Park could easily see a foot of snow and the Swan Mountains could see two feet, Nester said.
Highs will be comparatively balmy, in the 20s during the day and in the low teens at night.
There should be a break in the weather Tuesday and then another round of snow Wednesday into Thursday with the possibly of more arctic air later in the week, but not as cold as it has been, when temperatures dropped to 20 below and further in many locations in the Flathead earlier this week.
