Donn Abbott Thurston

Longtime Columbia Falls resident, Donn Abbott Thurston, 91, passed away peacefully on Feb. 14, 2017 in Mesa, Arizona surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 18, 1926 in Heaton, North Dakota. Donn worked at the Anaconda Aluminum Plant for 28 years and was a member of the Flathead Tractor and Engine Association. He also served as the volunteer fire chief for the Bad Rock Fire Department in his early years. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He enjoyed fiddling, fishing, old-time engine restoration and the Montana wilderness. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Frances Snow Thurston; his daughters Janet (Chris Fuller) and Margie (Dave Pilling) and 17 grandchildren and 52 great-grand children.
