Wildkats thump Blue Devils at home
Kiara Burlage had a huge first quarter as the Wildkat defense stifled Corvallis in girls basketball at home Saturday. Burlage tallied 26 points total as the Kats dropped the Blue Devils, 84-48.
The Blue Devils have 10 wins on the season, but the Kats defense, which had multiple steals, kept Corvallis in check.
“We came out and set the tone defensively early,” coach Cary Finberg said.
The Kats (15-1) had three players in double figures in addition to Burlage. Dani Douglas had 18, Cydney Finberg 10 and Hannah Gedlaman came off the bench to score 10 as well. Gedlaman has been sidelined the past few weeks with a broken finger.
They had 15 steals as a team, Douglas, Burlage and Sydney Hovde had four apiece. Cydney Finberg had six rebounds and seven assists. Gedlaman had six boards as well.
“We had a lot of contributions from a lot of different players,” Finberg said.
The girls wrap up the regular season this week with a game at home Thursday at 6 p.m. against Whitefish and then they’re on the road against Stevensville. They’ll look to keep the pedal on the medal as they look forward to the divisional tournament in Hamilton Feb. 22-25.
