Cabin Fever Days next weekend in the Canyon
If you haven’t started on your sled, you’d better get going.
The annual Cabin Fever Days and World Famous Bar Stool Races are Feb. 10-12 in Hungry Horse, Coram and Martin City.
The bar stool races start at 1 p.m. Friday and Saturday on Sugar Hill in Martin City.
This is the 39th year of the event.
There are also many different events taking place at multiple locations throughout three small communities. A free shuttle runs all weekend, making getting around to all of the activities easy and fun and safe for the adults drinking alcohol.
This year the group announces they will have a groomer which they anticipate will create a smoother course for racers and will expedite the preparation of the hill each day. Also new this year the races will employ a professional emcee to DJ and announce the races, as well as improve sound quality throughout the hill. Another improvement, the free shuttle, will run for three days, including Friday night from 8 p.m. to 2:30 a.m, Saturday from noon to 2:30 a.m, and Sunday from noon to 10 p.m.
The event isn’t just bar stool races. On Friday there is a mixed doubles pool tournament and a dart tournament. On Saturday, there is snowshoe horseshoes and snowshoe softball and on Sunday there’s the annual Mountain Man competition. Plus there is a host of live music and great bands at many of the Canyon area bars.
The event raises money for the Trapline Association, a non-profit 501c(3) corporation that puts on the event. Proceeds from the event each year benefit the Martin City Volunteer Fire Department, Canyon Quick Response Unit, Canyon Kids Christmas Fund, the Gateway to Glacier Trail and more events and causes which improve the community for residents and visitors alike.
