Powder lovers delight. The Flathead Valley is expected to be pounded by a snow storm beginning Thursday night into Saturday.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the region from Thursday night through Saturday. Storm totals through the period could reach upwards of 20 inches, with three feet in the higher terrain by Saturday night.

Light snow is expected today through Thursday, with snow intensity picking up Thursday night, through Friday into Saturday as a Pineapple Express wave of moisture streams in from the Pacific and collides with cold arctic air from the east.

Winds should be about 15 to 25 mph, with highs starting out in the 20s and dropping into the low teens and single digits Friday night.

Snow diminishes Sunday, but it will be cold, with temperatures in the single digits Sunday night.

Next week should be cold and snowy as well.
