- Lefty Kreh Office Rod, $60. Basically a small rod with a length of yarn. I use a yarn rod in my casting classes to show line shapes and timing. Great for the person who hits you in the back of the head with his fly.

- Fishpond Headgate Tippet Holder, $20. Nifty little plastic device that holds a few tippet spools.

- Waterproof cell phone case, $30. A must for anyone who spends time on the water or in bad weather. Many brands available.

•Wading staff, $100. Sturdy sections held together with elastic cord. Looks expensive, but just one bad spill on rocks makes this a bargain. A must for geezers.

- Onx hunt app, $30/state; $100/U.S. Base maps with layers showing topography, hunting area boundaries, and a ton of other features, including land ownership. Use on cell phones, notebooks, and computers. Can’t imagine anyone not appreciating this gift.

- Roll-up dry bags, $15-$50. No one who floats ever has enough dry bags.

- Dozen flies, $25. Especially appreciated by anglers who don’t tie their own flies.

- Tilley hat, $85. Wide-brimmed, high SPF. One of the best gifts I received last Christmas because it is helping keep me out of the dermatologist’s office so often. Wore mine all summer fishing, hiking and golfing.

- Sun gloves, $25. Your loved one is more likely to wear’em if they have’em. Keeps sun off the back of the hands.

- Bone fishing in the Bahamas. Oh, wait, that’s what I want!

- Interagency Annual Pass, $80. Admittance to national parks, fee areas, etc.

- Membership in a conservation, fishing, hunting, or any outdoor group allied with your outdoorsy’s passion and interests.

- Subscription to Montana Outdoors Magazine, $12. Official magazine of Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife & Parks.

- Fishing license. I give a fishing license to members of my family every year. A great tradition!
