MatCats go 2-4 at Mining City Duals in Butte

It was a busy week for the Columbia Falls MatCats as the team was on the road at the Dillon Mixer Thursday and in Butte for the Mining City Duals Friday and Saturday.

Results from Dillon had not been made available at press time, but the MatCats went 2-4 in Butte as they defeated Belgrade and Capital, but fell to Flathead, Sentinel, Billings Senior and Skyview.

Columbia Falls opened the duals with a 57-12 loss to Flathead as Brandon Thomas pinned Brandon Comer in 1:00 for the MatCats only win of the match.

The team bounced back with a 64-3 win over Belgrade and a picked up a win via tiebreaker against Capital, 33-33.

Easton Sempf had the fastest pin for the Cats against Belgrade in the 138-pound weight class as he pinned Tamis Roe in 22 seconds. Jakob Freeman and Kyler Koski also pinned their opponents in less than a minute.

The Cats fell in all three of their matchups Saturday as they took on larger schools.

Thomas, Freeman and Koski all picked up wins for the MatCats against Skyview and Austin Nelson, Peters, Ben Windauer and Colton McPhee got victories against Sentinel.

The team will be back in action Thursday as they travel to Browning before wrestling at the Great Falls Holiday Invitational over the weekend.
