On Thursday, August 24 at 5 p.m., the market at the Coop will have music by Jameson and the Sordid Seeds, beer by Lewis and Clark Brewing, and spirits by Spotted Bear Spirits, sponsored by Big Mountain Chiropractic to benefit Flathead Area Mountain Bikers.
Garage sale
A big garage sale to benefit the North Valley Senior Citizen Center is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 25 and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 26 at the center. Sale will feature a host of different items.
Junior high physicals
Sports physicals will be Tuesday, Aug. 29 from 4-6 p.m. at the junior high. There is a $20 charge per physical.
Run for Kimberly
A 5k fun run to benefit Kimberly Peacock, a Columbia Falls cross country runner who is battling leukemia, is 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 27 at the Pinewood Aqautic Center. Early registration is $25 until Aug. 20. Late registration $30 until the day of the race. Climate talk
Enjoy a presentation about climate change, projected impacts, and local solutions on Thursday, Aug. 24 at 7 p.m. at Montana House. Steve Thompson, chairman of Climate Smart Glacier Country, will talk about the new nonprofit partnership and share the latest research about climate trends in Glacier National Park and the Crown of the Continent region. Elementary open house
All Glacier Gateway families are invited to a celebration Wednesday, Aug. 30 at 4:30-6 p.m. There will be a PTO barbecue dinner, raffles, classroom visits, and meet and greet with the teachers.
Bank after hours
Freedom Bank will offer food, beverages, and giveaways on Tuesday, Aug. 29 from 5-9 p.m. during its business after hours. New artwork at the bank will also be on display.
Ribbon cutting
Mountain View Hearth Products will offer refreshments and demonstrations on Wednesday, Sept. 6 from 5:30-7 p.m. at 3905 Highway 40 during its open house.
Falls Fest
The Rotary Club of Columbia Falls is proud to present the third annual “Falls Fest” on Saturday, Sept. 9 at Marantette Park. This outdoor concert features three fabulous bands: Rosin Cello Duo, Hawthorne Roots and the headline act, The Cold Hard Cash Show. Gates open at 3 p.m. with music from 4-9:30 pm, rain or shine. Public lands luncheon
On Tuesday, Sept. 12 from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m., join Amy Robinson of Montana Wilderness Association and Paul McKenzie with F.H. Stoltze Land and Lumber Co. for a discussion of public lands management. The event will take place at the North Valley Hospital Tea Kettle Room on Nucleus Avenue with catering by Earth Angel Organics.
Calendar submissions
Flathead Electric Co-op is now accepting photo submissions for the annual member calendar, which will be printed and available for members in November. Photo submissions should depict wildlife, scenery, people, activities, or anything else that represents Northwest Montana. To enter, you must be a member of the Co-op and an amateur photographer. Members whose submissions are featured in the calendar will receive $25 and their names will be published in the calendar. Photos must be received by Aug. 31 and can be submitted online at www.flatheadelectric.com/calendar.
Falls Fest
The Rotary Club of Columbia Falls invites the public to the 2017 Falls Fest, which will support local charities and feature popular bands, food trucks, activities, and local beer. The Fest will be held Saturday, Sept. 9 at Marantette Park. If you are interested in sponsoring the event, call 890-3608.
Log hauling
Log hauling and heavy equipment transport is currently occurring on the East Side Reservoir Road (Road 38), up to 50 loads per day during peak periods. Loads should persist until the snow flies. The West Side Reservoir Road (Road 895) may also have some log truck traffic. Log truck traffic will occur between 4 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.

Hay needed
Farming for the Future Academy is asking for donations of quality grass mix hay for the small animal farm located at the Montana Veterans Home in Columbia Falls. The farm animals are enjoyed by residents and used for outreach programs and free summer camps. Please call 253-4369.
