North Fork elects board reps

Fire danger remains extreme, but thanks to a strong initial attack on North Fork lightning strikes, the fires up the North Fork are small.

Residents remain alert and we hope visitors will also be very careful. The Mountain Madness ATV and motorcycle run has been canceled due to the fire danger, and the North Fork Patrol is helping with frequent patrol of campgrounds.

Both of the large community groups, the North Fork Preservation Association and the North Fork Landowners Association, have held their annual meetings and elections to prepare for the next fiscal year.

As expected, the NFPA leadership is mostly unchanged. Debo Powers and Randy Kenyon remain as president and vice president, with Suzanne Daniell as secretary and Kelly Edwards as treasurer.

Board of Directors also includes Steve Gniadek, Annemarie Harrod, Alan McNeil, Roger Sullivan, Kevin Ulrichsen, Frank Vitale, and Bill Walker. Past president and North Fork hero John Frederick is also on the board.

The NFLA tends to change leadership more often since they have a term limit of two terms for the president. As a result, Randy Kenyon now sits on the board as past president replacing Karen McDonough. New president is Larry Wilson. Rachel Peura was re-elected vice president; new secretary is Dawn Jacobson replacing Donna Harrison. Chris Heitz was re-elected treasurer, and new directors are Bill Walker and Lynn Ogle, who replace Jan Caldwell and Larry Wilson, respectively. Holdover directors with one more year remaining on their terms are Irv Heitz and Kevin Ulrichsen.

Also at the annual meeting was a by-law change which moves business meetings from the first Saturday of the month to the second Sunday of each month. The change was approved by a two-thirds majority and was done to accommodate the growing number of residents unable to attend Saturday meetings.

The new board will be looking at and renewing committee assignments, preparing the fall newsletter, and working on next year’s social calendar.

As a courtesy, the NFLA includes the events and social activities of other North Fork groups and individuals that offer activities for all North Forkers. It would be helpful if those groups and individuals would get their information to Larry Wilson or Dawn Jacobson as soon as possible.
