Columbia Falls swimmers do well at state tournament
The Columbia Falls summer swim team recently wrapped up a successful season, with several swimmers nabbing medals at the state meet Aug. 5-6.
Alanis Peterson took gold in the 100-meter intermediate medley, silver in the butterfly, and silver in the freestyle. Peterson set the pool record in the 8-U 100-meter medley during the Western Divisional tourney at home July 28-29.
Avery Role took bronze in 50 breaststroke and Emerald Templin took bronze in 200 medley.
The girls 8-U relay took sixth with Kensley Cheff, Rylie Hull, Peterson and Aubrey Talbot.
The boys 8-U medley relay took fifth with Teagan Bates, Remmington Bussard, Javen Thomas and Talon Borgan.
The girls 9-10 relays took second in freestyle and third in the medley with Sadie Cheff, Madison Moultray, Role and Soup Fox.
The 11-12 boys took third in both the medley and free relays, with Bryce Dunham, Adam Schrader, Logan Niles and Tyler Venagas.
Along with podium finishes by Sadie Cheff, Avery Role, Tyler Hull, Jeremiah Venegas and Tyler Venegas, the team finished sixth overall. There were many top 12 finishes.
“I’m proud of each and every one of our swimmers,” said first-year coach Harry Bagley. “It was a great swim season.”
