There was a light agenda at the July 24 School District 6 board meeting. Board members voted on final changes to the policy handbooks in preparation for the upcoming school year. Discussion was minimal, as the board has been working on hirings and policy updates all summer.

In board news:

- The board approved the transportation agreement with Helena Flats Elementary for the next fiscal year.

- The board voted to renew the Canyon Elementary Building Use Agreement between the district and the Department of Corrections.

- The board approved revisions to the 2017-2018 school calendar, which will allow for Safariland Training on Oct. 6 and 9.

- The board approved salary revisions.

- The board adopted the new policy manual and the elementary and high school handbooks.

- The board approved the resignation of Bethany Benton as high school choir teacher.

The board voted to hire Sarah Gillis as special education paraeducator at Glacier Gateway, Emily McCaffree as special education paraeducator at the high school, Emily Hackethorn as high school choir teacher, Mark Phillips as drivers’ ed teacher, TJ Ray and Andrew Lettrich as assistant golf coaches, and Emily von Jentzen as head swim coach.

The board approved all high school extra duty hires.
