Hockaday events on tap
The Hockaday Museum of Art in Kalispell invites Flathead Valley residents and visitors to their May exhibitions and events. Every Saturday at 1 p.m., learn about the exhibits from a trained docent. Participation in a guided tour is included with admission.

Wild Impressions by Wanda Mumm

Wanda Mumm presents an exhibition of paintings, sketchbooks, and journals created while working 10 days on location in the Bob Marshall Wilderness through the Artist Wilderness Connection Program.

Reflections on Lake McGregor: Artist Talk with Caron Tabb

Admission: members/free, non-members/$10
Boston abstract artist Caron Tabb will talk about her teenage son’s journey at Montana Academy, a therapeutic boarding school in Marion. Tabb has used her art as therapy and a tool for eliminating stigma around mental health. Her exhibition runs May 11 through May 13.

Artist In-Studio Experience with Manel Àlvarez

International artist Manel Àlvarez shares some of his finished and in-progress pieces at this one-of-a-kind event for the Hockaday. Join the artist at his temporary Montana studio in an intimate gathering, learn about his materials and techniques, and hear some of his art stories from around the world. Photographing the Wilderness: Artist Presentation with Marilyn Feather

Michigan photographer Marilyn Feather shares her Artist Wilderness Connection experience in a slide presentation of her photography. Feather will also offer a landscape photography class on Saturday, June 3.

Preschool Art Adventures
Tuesdays, 11:30 a.m. to noon
Ages: 2-5, accompanied by an adult guardian
Cost: Suggested donation $3 per child for non-members. Free with Family Membership.
Preschool artists and their adult helpers will share fun art projects that encourage creativity and develop basic art skills.
After School Art Classes
Tuesdays, 3:30-4:50 p.m.
Ages: 7-14
Cost for 5-session class: $36
May’s theme is “Enchanted Worlds.” Create underwater worlds, castles in the sky, enchanted forests, and magical creatures.
Home School Art Classes
Wednesdays, 10:30 a.m. to noon
Ages: 6-15
Cost per session: $7
Students will view art works in the Museum and learn to use the language of art. Each class session will explore how artists use a particular element of art or principle of design. Students will create their own art in related hands-on activities. All class materials provided.
