Frederick Fekete

Lt. Col. Frederick Fekete (USAF Ret.) passed away March 26, 2017 at the Montana Veterans’ Home in Columbia Falls. He was born in 1932, the youngest of 13 children of immigrant parents,

Fred proudly served his country for 30 years as a “missileer” and then as Transportation Squadron Commander.

Fred lived with Parkinson’s disease with courage and resolve since 1993. A trusted and respected leader who focused on others and left the world a better place, he will be remembered for his infectious smile and the twinkle in his eye.

He married Barbara Shelton Fekete (deceased) in 1955 and is survived by his six children, Fred (Kathy), Sandy, Ted (Colleen), Tom (Kristi), Jacqui, and Jim Fekete; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

The family acknowledges the exceptional staff at the Montana Veterans’ Home, who loved, honored and cared for him and his fellow veterans.
