Columbia Falls girls soccer let a pair of early leads slip away last week against top Northwest A opponents.

Against league-leading Whitefish on Thursday, the Wildkats scored two quick goals at the 10- and 11-minute marks, but couldn’t hold on in a 3-2 loss.

Kaylkee Ashe scored in the 10th minute and Hannah Gedlaman scored 60 seconds later. But then it was all Lady Bulldogs, as they evened it up at two apiece by the half and went ahead on a Haley Nicholson shot in the second half to take the victory.

“We let them back in,” said coach Greg Trenerry. “But we didn’t quit.”

Whitefish had eight shots to the Kats six.

On Saturday, the Kats took an early advantage over Polson, only to fall 1-2 in another Northwest A contest.

The Pirates’ Tiara Duford hit the net in the 67th minute to cap the come-from-behind victory.

Hannah Callender scored for the Wildkats off a Hannah Gedlaman assist in the 25th minute for the Kats lone goal. Polson tallied the equalizer just before the half.

The Columbia Falls girls are 4-3-0 on the season. The Kats host Stillwater on Thursday, then play Libby at home Saturday.
