Otis S. Hard

| September 14, 2016 8:45 AM

Otis S. Hard, 71, was born July 17, 1945 to Otis and Nellie Hard, died at his home surrounded by family on Sept. 5, 2016.

Otis served on the USS Cree Naval (Atf-84) during the Vietnam War and was a proud veteran. Otis read his Bible faithfully every morning and loved the Lord.

As a young man Otis moved to Libby with his family and soon discovered Kalispell. He fell in love with the valley and all the hunting and fishing that she had on offer. Otis, as many will know him, could be ornery as a bear and dead up honest about how he felt about things. However to his family he was a deeply caring man as well. They believe that there is no coincidence that he died on Labor Day as he felt work and breathing went hand in hand. He endeavored to be the best at everything he tried.

As the owner of Over the Hill Gang pawn shop, Otis could be seen at any given time wheeling and dealing with the best of them. He loved a good deal and he may have been tough but he liked to be fair. He certainly was in it for the joy.

Otis leaves behind his wife of 40 years, Roylee Hard; daughters and sons and grandchildren all of whom he loved dearly and they loved him.

The family will hold a celebration of his life at a later date.

Columbia Mortuary is caring for Otis’s family.
