Many of Glacier Park's roads reopen

While the Going-to-the-Sun Road to Logan Pass is closed for the season, many of Glacier National Park’s secondary roads have reopened after a snowstorm last week.

The storm closed the Sun Road from Avalanche Creek to St. Mary until next spring, but the Two Medicine, Many Glacier, Chief Mountain and Camas roads have all reopened.

Warmer weather has melted the snow, though snow levels were expected to drop to 5,000 feet this week, which could close them again. The best thing to do is check the Park’s link to road conditions at:

The Park in past years has kept the Sun Road open to Avalanche into November and December, depending on the weather. The same with the Camas Road. Crews are working on the Many Glacier Hotel, which could keep that road open a little longer as well.

The east side of the Park had nearly two feet of snow at valley levels after a storm last Monday.

But it since warmed up and rained most of the week, melting at least lower elevation sites.
