TENNIS: Rain hampers play at Class B-C state tournament
MISSOULA — Jason Brandt of Libby and Alex Buenz of Bigfork both were second-round winners in boys singles play on Thursday at the Class B-C state tennis tournament.
Brandt, who had a first-round bye, defeated David Ramsey of Loyola 6-2, 6-0 in the second session.
Buenz went 2-0 on the day, besting Bailey Moss of Ronan 5-7, 6-3, 10-6 in a wild first-round pairing and then advanced in winners bracket play with a 7-6 (6), 6-1 win over Nick Diekans of Great Falls Central in the second round.
In girls singles, Karlee Park of Bigfork dropped Kira Thompson of Forsyth 7-6 (2), 6-3; Kaylene Hudson of Libby stopped Hannah Moss of Ronan 6-2, 6-0; and Allie Brown of Troy dominated Alyssa Rith of St. Ignatius 6-1, 6-0.
Rain hampered much of play.
Team scores were not included because consolation matches extended well into Thursday evening.
Only one round was completed in girls play at Playfair Park because of wet courts. Tournament action continues today.
