Getts win streak now at 7 as girls do well against Sentinel
Emily Getts continued her unbeaten streak last week, dropping three of her AA opponents in singles tennis.
Getts beat Matney Stropky of Missoula Sentinel, 7-5, 6-2 on Friday and then Shelby Odell 7-5, 6-2 of Glacier and Ellie Berreth of Flathead 6-2, 6-2 last Tuesday.
Getts, a senior, is now 7-0 on the season coming down the home stretch.
As a team, the girls had a nice outing on the road against Sentinel.
Molly Schmit beat Michaela Keast 6-4, 6-3 and Harley Molchan dropped Emma Fostich, 7-6 (7-4), 3-6, 10-4 in another one of Molchan’s marathon matches.
“All of my girls are working hard, and it’s showing,” said coach Gene Marcille. “I’m particularly excited about the success Harley Molchan and Molly Schmit are both having in singles, and some of that is because they practice against Getts, who is one of the best players in the state. My doubles teams are also getting better, but the reality is that our conference is really strong in girls doubles this year.”
The boys team failed to win a match against Flathead or Glacier.
