Columbia Falls Wildkats drop Havre to advance at state basketball tourney

The Columbia Falls girls basketball team advanced to the semifinal round of the state A tournament in Belgrade Thursday, dropping Havre 64-52.

The Wildkats were led by senior Ellie Johnson, who nailed five treys and had 22 points for the game. It was Johnson’s best scoring effort of her high school career.

The Kats shot just 38 percent from the field, but they played strong defense and held Havre to just 30 percent shooting.

Peyton Kehr had 15, Kiara Burlage had 9 and Sydney Grilley and Cydney Finberg had 6 points apiece for the Kats . Sydney Hovde had four and Miranda Livingston had a bucket to round out the scoring.

The girls now face Browning tomorrow night at 7 p.m.
