Flathead County Court dismisses Moskaloff's attempted murder charge

A Hungry Horse man will avoid charges of attempted murder in a plea bargain with Flathead County prosecutors.

At the end of December, Ryan Lee Moskaloff entered an Alford plea to two counts of failing to register as a violent or sexual offender in Flathead County Court. An Alford plea means that Moskaloff maintains that he is innocent, he concedes that there is enough evidence to convict him in court.

In accordance with a plea agreement, the Flathead County Court dismissed assault with a weapon and two counts of attempted homicide from a shotgun incident that occurred Dec. 26, 2014.

In that case, witnesses claimed Moskaloff fired multiple rounds with a shotgun at them from a camper trailer parked in Hungry Horse on Dec. 26, 2014.

Last April, Moskoloff was sentenced to two years in prison after his sentence in a 2000 meth lab bust was revoked.

Moskaloff has a long rap sheet. He was charged with felony theft in 1997, felony bail jumping in 1999, felony bail jumping again in 2000, felony meth production and probation violation in 2000, felony possession of dangerous drugs in 2000 and failure to register as a violent or sexual offender in 2014.

He remains in the Flathead County Detention Center pending sentencing. He faces up to five years for the two counts of failing to register as a violent or sexual offender. Moskaloff will be sentenced Feb. 25.
