Two U.S. Forest Service roads that are about one mile south of Martin City are now closed to public traffic due to logging.

Lion Hill Road, Forest Road No. 5311 and Southwest Loop, Forest Road No. 590G on the Hungry Horse/Glacier View Ranger District, will be closed to motorized public use effective immediately. This includes vehicle and snowmobile traffic.

The road closure is in place for public safety during timber hauling operations associated with the Cedar Chipmunk Timber Sale. The road is narrow and plowed to only accommodate one-way log hauling traffic. The duration of this road closure will be weather dependent.

The Flathead National Forest advises people recreating on the forest to use caution on plowed roads and to not block gates on haul routes. Also, it advises people to report any road damage or road issues to a local forest service office.
