Juanita Ellen Anderson Lind
Juanita Ellen Anderson Lind was born on July 4th, 1924 on the home ranch Northwest of Havre. Her parents were Justus and Agnes Anderson.
She grew up on the family farm and attended rural schools through the eighth grade, most of the time riding horseback to and from school.
She attended and graduated from Havre High School and then attended and graduated from Northern Montana College with a degree in business and secretarial. Following graduation from NMC, she attended college at the University of Colorado in Boulder for one summer.
While attending college in Havre she began working part-time for the F.A. Buttrey Company.
Juanita taught shorthand, typing, and bookkeeping for three years at Joplin High School following graduation and returned each summer to work for Buttrey so other employees could take their vacations. She met Duane Lind while teaching in Joplin and married him on Sept. 10, 1947.
The week following their marriage the couple moved to Columbia Falls where Duane had taken a job with the Great Northern Railroad. And they lived there ever since.
Juanita went to work at the Park Drug a few months after coming to Columbia Falls. She subsequently worked for the Bank of Columbia Falls and later, Rocky Mountain Lumber which later became Louisiana Pacific and retired from there after 30 years.
Since retirement Juanita and Duane have done much traveling throughout the United States, a trip to Europe, and several cruises.
Juanita was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, the Columbia Falls Senior Center, Sapphire Temple 79 of Daughters of the Nile, and Vista Chapter #44 of Order of Eastern Star. She was a past Matron of Estella Pomeroy Chapter 68 Order of Eastern Star, and Grand Martha of the Grand Chapter of Montana Order of Eastern Star.
Juanita volunteered for many years for Meals on Wheels and worked at the Klothes Kloset. More recently she has volunteered many hours at the no-kill animal shelter on Highway 93, taking care of cats.
For many years she and Duane enjoyed golfing, fishing, traveling, and square dancing.
Juanita is preceded in death by Duane in 2004. She is survived by numerous cousins.
Memorials in lieu of flowers can be made to Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church or Humane Society of Flathead County or North Valley Senior Center.
Services for Juanita will be held on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016 at Columbia Mortuary at 11 a.m.. A luncheon will follow services at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Columbia Falls.
