TAA benefits meeting scheduled for laid off Weyerhaeuser employees
The Kalispell Job Service will hold an informational workshop 9 a.m. Tuesday at Flathead Valley Community College Arts and Technology Building’s community room to explain details of benefits for laid off Weyerhaeuser employees.
Eligible employees are encouraged to attend this meeting.
The Job Service will go over the following benefits of the program, which include:
• Pre-approved assistance with mileage, meals and motel for verified interviews over 50 miles away for people undergoing a job search.
• Pre-approved assistance with moving expenses for workers who must relocate themselves and their family to a permanent residence for a job over 50 miles away.
• Classroom Training – Pre-approved assistance for workers needing training in a new occupation.
• On-the-Job Training – TAA can pay half the hourly wage to employers who hire and train a worker in a new occupation on a pre-approved on-the-job training plan.
• Health Care Tax Credit – A tax credit to help pay for qualified health insurance premiums.
• Alternative Adjustment Assistance – Workers over 50 years of age may qualify for a wage subsidy of 50 percent of the difference of their old and new wages if they take a lower paying job.
• TAA Enrollment Information - Applicants are required to provide the following documents to be enrollment in TAA. The enrollment meetings will be scheduled in the near future at Job Service.
• Birth Certificate or Passport
• Social Security Card (Signed)
• Driver’s License (current)
• DD214 (Veterans of the military)
• Layoff Letter
• College Diploma if applicable
Applicants that have any questions or can’t make it to the workshop, should call the Job Service at (406) 758-6200 and ask for someone in programs. The meeting is expected to take two to three hours.
