LETTER: Thoughts about annexation

Pursuit of annexation of surrounded properties or property that can only be accessed by going through the city (any city) is reasonable. The benefits of city infrastructure extend beyond sewer and water and are often enjoyed by these property owners.
Growth brings economic development, higher population densities, and related impacts that call for responses by city governments to address those impacts.
Failure to address issues of sewer capacity, water quality, roads and transportation, parks, fire and emergency services and other civic expectations will result in more costs for all taxpayers. It is to everyone’s advantage that city-county relationships consider the challenges and opportunities of future growth.
