Track sweeps Iceberg Invite

The Columbia Falls track teams swept their home “Iceberg Invite” meet Saturday, with victories by both the girls and boys teams.

The girls were led by first-place finishes in the 100 and 200 meter hurdles by Mary Baker. Baker ran the 100 in 13.12 and the 200 in 27.23.

Kaitlyn Casazza won the 300 hurdles in 48.31 and the 100 hurdles in 16.87.

Ellie Johnson, Kiara Burlage, Miranda Livingston and Baker won the 400 relay in 51.79 and Burlage won the javelin with a throw of 114-8. Burlage’s javelin throw was a state qualifier.

Ashley Caffrey had her best pole vault of the season, clearing 10-06 to take the crown in that event.

Tanner Dana continues to burn up the track for the boys track team, as he won three races and was the anchor in the winning 400 relay team.

Dana won the 100 meters in 11.36, the 200 meters in 23.21 and the 400 meters in 51.43. All three of those times are state qualifiers. The 400 relay won with Braxton Reiten, Logan Kolodejchuk, Stephen Lindsey and Dana in 44.27.

On Tuesday, the team traveled to Missoula for the top 10 meet. Caffrey tied for third in the pole vault with a leap of 10 feet even. Dana tied for second in the 100 with a time of 11.45 and the boys 1,600 relay had a state-qualifying time of 3:31.90 and took third.

The teams travel to Whitefish this Saturday for a meet there.
