Boys tennis gets a couple of Ws

The boys got over the hump and won a couple of matches in tennis last week. Trevor Wick defeated David Haacke of Stevensville at home Saturday, 6-2, 6-3 in No. 2 singles and the doubles team of John Gilk and Sean Hoerner beat Noah Breneman and Aksel Sorensen, 7-5, 6-4.

Stevi won the overall match however, 3-2. The girl had their way with Stevi, losing just one match, even without Emily Getts, who didn’t play.

Molly Schmit, Sammi Mueller and Kayla Nicol all notched wins in singles and in doubles, Morgan Stenger and Sydney Grilley won as did Taylor Kellar and Paige Lozeau.

Last Tuesday, the boys were blanked by Flathead, 7-0 and Glacier 5-0. The girls lost to Glacier 7-1 and Flathead 6-2. Emily Getts stayed undefeated, however, dropping Glacier’s Shelby Odell in single’s play, 7-5, 6-2 and Flathead’s Ellie Berreth, 6-2, 6-2.

Harley Molchan won a marathon match against Bravette Claire Bradley, 1-6, 6-3, 10-5.

On Tuesday, the boys were blanked by Polson, 7-0. The girls lost 5-2.

Getts dropped Marlee Congdon 6-2, 6-1 and Molchan dropped Tessa Nunlist 7-6 (7-5), 2-6, 6-3 in another marathon match.
