Cats take second at Missoula, do well at Flathead Invite

Tanner Dana won the 100 and 200 meters and was third in the 400 as the Columbia Falls boys track team took second at the Missoula County Public Schools Invitational Saturday.

Dana ran the 100 in 11.46 and the 200 in 22.74. His 400 time was 51.35. The boys also won the 1,600 relay with a time of 3:32.44. Dakota Bridwell was second in the javelin with a throw of 179-02. Bridwell just started competing in track this season.

The girls took fifth. Ashley Caffrey won the pole vault with a jump of 10 feet even. Allyson Gimbel won the shot put with a 37-07 throw, tying teammate Erin Sampson.

Last Tuesday, both squads did well in the non-scoring Flathead Invitational. Dana won the 200 with a 22.95 and the boys won the 400 relay with a time of 44.51. Logan Kolodejchuck won the triple jump with a 42-5.25.

On the girls side, Ellie Johnson won the discus with a throw of 109-0 and Caffrey won the pole vault with another 10 foot mark.

The team traveled to Corvallis Tuesday and then host the “Iceberg Invite” this Saturday. Events start at 10 a.m.
