The newly imagined Bigfork Art and Cultural Center will hold a grand opening event and celebration Friday, April 8, from 5 to 8 p.m.

The grand opening will feature live music, food and wine. It will also mark the opening of the new exhibit, “The Wilderness Connection: Beyond Glacier’s Borders,” featuring artwork by local artists Annie Allen, Raette Meredith and Greg Thurston. The exhibit will be on view until April 30.

Last summer, Allen, Meredith, and Thurston were chosen to participate in the annual Artist-Wilderness Connection, a partnership between the Flathead National Forest, Hockaday Museum of Art, Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation and Swan Ecosystem Center.

The artists spent several weeks in the Bob Marshall Wilderness, in forest service cabins, exploring and soaking in the wilderness. The artwork in the exhibition is inspired by their experience.

The center will also hold a Family Fun Day on Saturday, April 9, from 1 to 5 p.m. featuring facepainting, crafts, sidewalk art and more. The gallery and gift shop (galleria) will be open during the Family Fun Day.

The Bigfork Art and Cultural Center is located at 525 Electric Ave., Bigfork. Hours at the center are Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The center’s website is currently under construction. For more information, call 406-837-6927 or email info@bigforkculture.com.
